Everything you need to know about our big fundraising campaign and upcoming move!

ree

Now that we have launched our exciting capital campaign and official news about the move to our new location, we know you have questions! We're eager to share all the details, so let’s jump right in. This post will address your most common inquiries, providing clarity on what's happening and how you can get involved.

A Matching Campaign? What's That?

Think of it like a Kickstarter. You go on and gift your amount towards our the Building Bright Futures Campaign, and if we reach our goal - $100,000 given by AT LEAST 200 people online before October 31st - then the money you pledged will be debited from your card and applied to the campaign. Not just that, but it will be doubled thanks to funding from the M1lle et Un program supported by La Ruche (the organization, not the local high school) and funded through the Secretariat de Jeunesse de Quebec.

So if you pledge $10 now, and we reach our goal, that $10 becomes $20 directly helping youth in Stanstead.

What happens when the matching goal is reached?

The 100,000 dollar matching campaign is only the beginning!

We still need to raise 550,000 dollars to help this new space become a reality.

Every donation makes such a difference.

I went on the La Ruche website and didn't see a "Give to the building fund" section?

All donations (whether you select an offer like "The Basics Giver - School supplies for one student" or a custom amount) done through the La Ruche page will go directly towards the Building Bright Futures Campaign to renovate the new building and enhance youth programming. The offers listed on the page are there to help give an idea of the costs involved in running our programs, and how every dollar you contribute to Phelps makes a huge difference!

Where is the new location?

Phelps' new address will be 700 rue Dufferin, a building many of you will recognize as the old Ambulance building (or maybe you know it as the house next to the old chicken restaurant, or neighbors to the old video store, depending on who you ask!)

What will the new building allow us to do that we can’t do now?

This new building will not only offer more space for our programs, but will allow us to have:

  • a brand-new teaching kitchen for our free meals & cooking workshops

  • an outdoor space for BBQ's, soccer, hockey, basketball, and more!

  • more space for parent workshops and community events

  • office space for our staff

  • special rooms for students with sensory needs who may need more privacy to get their work done

  • direct access to the bus routes, minimizing the need for bus transfers and allow all Stanstead students easier access to our after-school programs

What is the timeline for the move?

We are excited to share that our move is scheduled for early 2026. We hope to start renovations this month, to turn this space into the ideal space for our participants. We'll regularly update you on our progress and any changes to the timeline.

What will happen to the current building?

Throughout the past 10 years, we have fallen in love with our current location at 272 rue Dufferin. We will not say that it is easy to let this lovely space go, as we all have the fondest memories of Phelps' growth, impact, and so many special moments there. The building is currently for sale by the owner who generously let us use the space for the past few years. We hope that the perfect person comes along and transforms this space into something special that will positively impact the town of Stanstead.

Will there be any changes to the programs offered?

While we are moving to a new location, our commitment to providing quality programs remains unchanged. In fact, we hope that long-term this space will allow us to enhance our existing programming!

Can I volunteer during the campaign or the move?
