Stanstead is ranked with an Elevated Deprivation Level. The 2016 census revealed that 34% of women and 27% of men ages 25-65 living in the Stanstead area are not employed.
The Compass Program was developed to help local youth discover their future career and educational paths.
This program is growing quickly and expanding its range of services to include supporting transitions to adult and post-secondary education, and connecting local employers with community members seeking employment.
In its first year, 75 youth received support from the program
9 youth were re-attached to education
17 local youth gained short-term employment
